To them, the choice of materials was key

The couple had “practiced renovating” on two other houses, before they built the one that fulfilled all their dreams. They left Näset in Gothenburg, for Vallda 16 miles further south. There they found their new property after a fairly long process.
– We enjoy living on the West Coast and want to be close to both the sea and nature. Vallda is a peaceful area, yet still near the city.

Long-term and timeless

The choice of materials has played a major role for the couple when shaping the overall feel of the house. And they are in complete agreement.
– For us, the natural and sustainable are prerequisites. We have chosen to invest in materials that only grow more beautiful over time.

Oasis, integrity, and nature

Architect Gert Wingårdh became involved in the creative process at an early stage. He wanted to understand his clients to figure out what they were looking for. Therefore, he asked the couple to describe their vision using only three words.
– Our words were oasis, integrity, and nature. In our meetings with Gert, we also talked about harmony and the importance of privacy. For example, we didn’t want large glass panels facing the street.

Floors of Swedish Douglas fir

When it came to choosing floors, they got in touch with Kullaberg Flooring by chance. It turned out that the company had everything Jens and Miranda were looking for: wide plank floors of Swedish Douglas fir that age beautifully.
– We established a good connection with both Fredrik and Sandra at Kullaberg Flooring. Two real enthusiasts who are passionate about their products and the craft. We instantly understood each other.

Vibrant and inviting floors

The couple’s ambitions have always been high, not least in their choice of floors. Jens and Miranda wanted to create something that felt genuine. Floors that are both full of life and inviting.
– We have consistently chosen materials that can withstand aging. Wear is part of the process; seeing the traces of life only makes the floors even more beautiful.

Wood on the walls too

Quite late in the design process with Gert, they decided that they also wanted wood in other places. For example, Douglas panels were used on a door and one wall. In addition, Kullaberg Flooring supplied spruce panels for the façade, tailored to the couple’s specific wishes.
– Although we have wooden floors in several rooms, we also have a limestone floor in one part of the house. And we realised that wood on the walls there would create a beautiful contrast.

Personal, committed, and quality-conscious

When asked which three words they think best describe Kullaberg Flooring, the couple don’t hesitate.

– Personal, committed, and quality-conscious. We would also like to share one tip with others considering new flooring: don’t be afraid of a little wear. It only makes real wooden floors more beautiful.
