A quality floor adds both craftsmanship and character
They live in a villa that evokes the spirit of the Hollywood Hills in the 1950s, just 100 meters from the beach at Ljunghusen in Skåne. The villa features two guesthouses, a custom-designed pool, a home theater lounge, a professional-grade kitchen, and a wine and champagne bar. When contractor Mikael Berman and interior designer Linda Bergman were choosing the flooring, they decided on Kullaberg Flooring.
The couple’s villa is located in Ljungskogen, part of the Swedish Riviera, near Ljunghusen. There’s a lot to be said about the area, but if they had to sum it up, they would certainly include its proximity to the sea, access to both nature and city life, peacefulness, and wildlife.
“You can even encounter foxes just around the corner”, Mikael says.

Part of the whole
Mikael works on various real estate projects and is accustomed to making the many important decisions that come with them, including choosing flooring. For interior designer Linda, the flooring is an integral part of the overall design. There were many factors that played a significant role in their flooring choice.
“We didn’t want something mass-produced; we wanted something more personal and tailored to us. For us, this is much more than just a floor. It’s about craftsmanship, history, location, and uniqueness.”
Part of the whole
Mikael works with various real estate projects and is used to all the much-needed choices, including of floors. To interior designer Linda, flooring is a natural part of the whole. There were many things that mattered a lot to them choosing their flooring.
“We did not want anything mass-produced, rather something more personal and adapted to us. For us, this is so much more than a floor. It is a matter of craftsmanship, history, location, and uniqueness.”
Natural and functional
The decision was made to go with a walnut-coloured ash plank floor. They were looking for both natural beauty and functionality. Their different professions provided the inspiration for their choice of flooring.
“We live with this every day; whenever possible, we travel the world, attend trade fairs, and gather various impressions.”
They chose a mix of materials, all rewarding to work with. Wood, concrete, and copper create exciting contrasts.
Meeting at the Malmö Fair
Their first encounter with Kullaberg took place at the Malmö Fair in 2014. Before that, they had never heard of the company. Since then, they’ve used their flooring in 4-5 different projects. There are several reasons for choosing Kullaberg.
“It’s a local company, and we appreciate that. Fredrik’s expertise and input are outstanding. He has a great eye for finishes, colours and widths. These are not standard products. The feel of solid planks is hard to beat.”

“The floor isn’t completely flawless; it moves just like any natural material. This enhances the authentic, genuine feel and gives it a non-mass-produced quality.”
Linda also wants to emphasise how the floor and the wide skirting boards complement the interior design elements.
